Real steps?

Hi all!

Got a question for yall - what are the real steps I can take to improve my MPG?

Anybody can share some real-life experience?

Re: Real steps?

Well, let's see - when do you actually waste gas?
You waste gas when you hit accelerator way too hard and engine cannot make good use of all the fuel it's getting.
And you waste your gas when you are breaking! When breaking you are loosing your vehicle's energy and wearing out your vehicle's brake system components.

No, it does not mean you should stop breaking all together. Just watch the road ahead.

Are you driving 30 mph in 35 mph zone? Do you see red light in 300 feet? If so - there is no reason to race to the light just to stop. Especially if there are already cars stopped in your lane. You can take your foot off the accelerator and just glide to the stoplight.
You will save gas and your brakes too!

I've started getting 1-2 mpg better mileage when I started doing that. I know it's hard sometimes but you should give it a try.

I increased 2 MPG with my 2003 Chevy Silverado just by keeping my highway speed between 55 and 60. Doesn't sound like much, but when it's time to fill that 27 gal tank, it helps.

If you have cruise control, use it. It helps maintain the slower speeds.

You'll need to stay in the far right lane, cause you will be one of the slower vehicles on the road.

Where's everyone going in such a hurry? smile
