Hello-

This may sound dumb, but I think it would add something to the site if, instead of having to enter in the mileage on the odometer, there was a spot to enter the mileage from a trip meter (i.e. you fill up and reset you trip meter to zero, then drive and fill again, then type in the distance on the trip meter 240 or whatever it might be.) This may be easier because it would be easier to remember if you don't have a pen handy.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.
It's definitely easier to remember trip meter reading than odometer reading. One issue we see with using only meter readings is that some other functionality of the site like maintenance reminders rely on tracking actual odometer readings to trigger at correct times, and this functionality will not work correctly.
We will give this suggestion some more thoughts and report back.

One thing that might make it work would be that there could be something on the site that tracks the last known odometer reading and would keep adding to that. I understand this would be thrown off by people not coming every time they get gas, but for the majority it would make it easier.

Dear tankbeans, we were thinking along same lines, as long as we keep odometer reading on vehicle details and add trip miles to that with every new fill-up we should be in good shape.

We will implement this change, it should be available by June 27th.

Dear tankbeans,

We are glad to inform you that we have added functionality to track MPG using trip miles.
Now when you enter fill-up information there is an input field called "Miles Driven" so you can enter either odometer reading or trip meter readiing (or both), and if trip meter reading is entered it will be used to calculate MPG, otherwise odometer reading will be used.
